NoPC's
Contract With America
We at NoPC find the
trend toward larger government to be profoundly disturbing. As regulation
grows, individual liberty must be sacrificed. This is intolerable.
To combat the usurpation
of individual liberty and responsibility, we resolve to support candidates
who uphold the traditional American values of life, liberty and the pursuit
of happiness.
To accomplish this,
NoPC supports an addition to the Contract With America to achieve the
goals of liberty, responsibility and accountability.
We propose and support
legislation which recognizes the following:
- Crime in America
is out of control. The ability to walk down the street without fear
has been compromised by a judicial system that refuses to hold individuals
accountable for their actions. NoPC will support judicial reform in
the following areas:
- The limit of
appeals of convictions to Constitutional grounds only.
- The abolishment
of our current parole system which allows violent criminals back on
the street before their sentences are fulfilled. If you commit the
crime, you do the time.
- The implementation
of a victims' restitution program which will restore peace of mind
to those who have suffered.
- The expansion
of the death penalty to include rape and sexual assault of young children.
- Constitutional
protections are not to be interpreted from State to State or district
to district. The Constitutional rights of individuals are absolute.
This includes the right to protect one's self against the threat of
harm. NoPC supports and incourages proposals requiring States to recognize
concealed weapons permits issued in other jurisdictions and to grant
the bearer of such, full legal protection.
- NoPC recognizes
that it is impossible to expect one generation to finance the retirement
income of another, larger, generation. We recognize that the disposition
of personal income should be a personal and private decision and that
planning for one's future is also such. We propose and support reform
of the Social Security system as follows:
- Make the system
optional with a limited "opt-out" period for those currently in the
system, and then an application for social security filed by an individual
(and not their parents) only when they reach consenting adulthood.
- Or, continue
the payroll deduction, but allow each inividual tax payer to allocate
their own investment portfolio in order to make the system work more
like current 401(k) and IRA plans.
- Any plan that
would make it an option to leave the Social Security system if you
so choose.
- Finally, we support
the elimination of corporate welfare, including all subsidies. The government
should play no role in supporting industries that cannot support themselves.
We believe that is the natural course of our economic system to eliminate
firms which are too weak to survive on their own and then replace them
with newer, more capable firms.
NoPC adheres to the
philosophy of the maximization of personal liberties. We further recognize
that citizens are no longer able to live without daily interference from
burdensome government regulation and bueracracy. It is because of our
firm belief in the extraordinary resourcefulness of a free and unrestrained
citizenry, that we at NoPC, put forth this addition to the Contract With
America.
