He was my Momma's Momma's Daddy. From NC by way of Pennsylvania. Glad she did a little geneology now! I have a pic of him if interested! He looks incredibly like my VA pic actually (facial hair and all)! I think my momma was trying to tell me something before she died. We have some entrepeneurial spirit in us!!

One of my ancestors invented the "Besemer Process" for making steel -- Jacob Stroup. Are we "related"?

Now it looks like a two-way race for the Republican nomination between Romney and McCain.

If McCain wins the nomination, I will have a VERY hard time voting for him so much as voting AGAINST every other alternative.

Fear not, my vote won't matter in the General Election anyway, since New Jersey has decided to join the former Soviet Union as the People's Republic of New Jersey...where one-party rule--not my party's rule--is the rule of the day.

On February 5, 2008, like much of the country, I will slog my way to vote a primary election to see who gets the party delegates from--in my case--the State of New Jersey.

This is really the best chance that a party member has to express a view as to who should be the party's nominee. It is not really supposed to be a poltiical calculation about who has the best shot at winning so much as it is about choosing the best person for the job.

Hey, it's Lazarus. And this is my blog. I am married with three children ranging in ages from 8 to 21.

I live in the People's Republic of New Jersey and I am frequently confronted with major battlefields of the American Revolution, and I wonder, how did the people of this state grow to be so tolerant of tyranny and taxation?

Well, that's enough for the first blog entry, and if you have any thoughts on the subject, then feel free to opine.
