Saw The Avengers. Really excellent movie. (If you go, stick around for all the end credits to be over - you don't want to miss that final "bonus" scene.)

Saturday evening. The wedding was held on the front porch of an old, old cabin belonging to the bride's parents. I was in the front row, of course, and somebody asked me to film the ceremony with their cellphone, which I did. There were a couple of small kittens playing on the porch steps, and at one point, since the ceremony was going through a dull patch, I panned down and took some footage of the kittens. Hope nobody minds. Saw a black widow spider on the ground a couple of feet in front of me, and turned to ask the folks over on the bride's side, "Is a black widow spider at a wedding good luck or bad luck down here?" Tough crowd.

Sunday afternoon. Left Dothan early and drove the 3 1/2 hours to Mobile. Decided that the next new car I buy will have Sirius XM radio in it. Went straight to the ballpark to watch the BayBears play. In the third inning, somebody hit a very high foul ball up into the second deck, and I stood up, took one step forward, and tried to do a bare-handed basket catch on it; I was about four inches off. It hit the base of my right thumb, bounced off and rolled to a kid about four seats down. I offered him five bucks for the ball, but it was no sale. Otherwise, a good game, the BayBears winning on Third Baseman Matt Davidson's second home run of the game - a walk-off in the bottom of the 10th.

Not exactly a highlight, but on the way to the ballpark, I stopped at a convenience store and bought a small bottle of chocolate milk - some local brand. Opened it in the car, and it smelled godawful. Went back into the store, and the East Indian inside the bulletproof enclosure tried to tell me I was crazy. "Is not bad! Smell it...is chocolate!" I said, "Dude, I know what chocolate smells like. This smells like ass and old garbage." I got another one and opened it there in the store - same thing. Apu is telling me, "Is not bad! The truck just come yesterday!" But he wouldn't come out of his glass room to smell it himself. Probably thought it was all an elaborate ruse to rob him. I finally gave up on the local brand and got a Nestle's or something, which he was quick to point out was sixty cents more.

Tuesday afternoon. Two-and-a-half-hour layover in Dallas. Sitting in a little barbeque place near my gate, having lunch, and some doofus strolls up and asks the Middle Eastern girl behind the counter, "Uh...what's the difference between the sizes?" She says, "One is a larger portion than the other one, sir." She becomes my newest hero.

On the flight from Dallas to Phoenix, my luck in getting window seats runs out, and I'm stuck on the aisle, where sleeping is impossible, and I am dead tired. Everyone who walks past brushes my left arm, and the obese woman in the middle seat pokes me in the ribs with her left elbow every time she writes in her sudoku puzzle magazine. I drink cup after cup of coffee, trying to convince my body that I really didn't want to sleep anyway. The nightmare finally ends, and I am home. My wife and daughter have detailed my car while I was gone and had the front seats reupholstered, as a surprise. Businessman Frank Vandersloot, the CEO of Melaleuca, has been targeted by the Obama campaign after donating money to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. "Three weeks ago, an Obama campaign website, 'Keeping GOP Honest,' took the extraordinary step of publicly naming and assailing eight private citizens backing Mr. Romney," Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal reported. "Titled 'Behind the curtain: a brief history of Romney's donors,' the post accused the eight of being 'wealthy individuals with less-than-reputable records.' Mr. VanderSloot was one of the eight, smeared particularly as being 'litigious, combative and a bitter foe of the gay rights movement.'"


The attacks are working. Vandersloot revealed in an interview on Fox News that his business practice is being hurt by the attacks from the Obama team.



"Those people that I know well weren't affected by this [attack]," said Vandersloot. "But for people who didn't know me, who are members of our business or customers, and they were reading this, then we got a barrage of phone calls of people cancelling their customer memberships with us.".......

Nearly 17,500 of the bizarre capsules have been grabbed from tourists' luggage and international mail since last August, the state-run Korea Customs service said in a statement Monday. The capsules were made in northeastern China in a stomach-turning process in which dead babies' bodies were chopped into small pieces and dried on stoves before being turned into powder, the Korea Customs Service said. Customs officials refused to say where the dead babies came from or who made the capsules, citing possible diplomatic friction with Beijing. China ordered an investigation into the production of drugs made from dead fetuses or newborns last year.
