Merely a hypothetical question, of course. :-*
I need to make some salad dressing. I think all I have is sour cream. What should I put in it that might possibly be lurking in my cabinets somewhere?

Try the Miracle Whip. It's the same thing. ::)
Check the code date on the sour cream first.
ANd around here, if you start a thread about the mods, everyone else will join in, NBFD. :D

Bacon bits? :)
Green onions and a dip mix.
chopped black olive, minced garlic and chopped tomatoes.

I don't have any dip mix. The first cabinet I opened yielded only Wild Turkey and cashews.
I did find some cheese and garlic in my refrigerator. Maybe I'll come up with something.

Oh, I get it now. You do have sour cream.
Jesus, I need a smacking-myself-in-the-forehead smilie. ::)
I think I'd go with bacon bits, diced tomato, (celery?), chopped walnuts, a bit of lemon juice. If I had any of that stuff lurking in my cabinets...
Sour cream and catsup with a little relish = "Secret Sauce"

Maybe I'll just eat the dregs from the bottled dressing. :-*

I have located a can of green chilies, and a can of black olives. I now have sour cream, cheddar cheese, garlic, chilies, and olives. I don't have any green onions, but I do have a white onion. Will this do?

Yes, but I highly recommend the chopped tomatoes. They;lre GREAT with sour cream.

Yes, I know, but I don't have any. In any case, I stumbled across a jar of salsa, so I just mixed it with the sour cream and put everything else on the salad. Don't laugh. It's good.

Enough of the dips. When do we get something substantial?
Baaaaaad.....where the hell is dinner and what's taking you so damned long??
Tonight is a VERY simple repast. Bratwurst grilled outdoors (or indoors if you're sub-zero or nearto). Perhaps a lovely Jasmine rice with butter and if you want, you can have a side of chilled sauerkraut.

Salsa will do in a pinch.
I'm just saying about the tomatoes...for future reference.

Because then he couldn't say 'chilled'. Chefs like to say 'chilled'. It's a chef-word.
