A portal would allow posting of news, reviews, calendars (the new version of YABB does have a calendar in it), and numerous other modular enhancements.Would our users like to see this kind of functionality on NoPC?For a good example of what a portal is capable of, please visit www.postnuke.com as this portal is one of the better open source varients. Any comments are welcome too.

I noticed conservababes can upload files rather than having to put them up on a site and link to them..........THAT's pretty dang cool.

YABB supports that right now. The feature is just turned off. This can be turned on if it is something people need/want.

I personally would have no use for it, so I'll go with the majority on this matter.

Lance, I think the important qustion to ask is how much of your personal time and/or resources is this going to take up? Because if it's a bit, then maybe it's not worth it for the bunch of us who could, so it seems, go either way.

The portal is a nice addition, but who would use it??

Most of the time it's simpler just to browse through the forums.

A portal has one big advantage, and that is it allows for a central point to view a snapshot of the latest posts.
But then again, you already have something quite similar.
