These things always happen in 3's, I'm told. My eye is not as sore today and it looks like some of the swelling has gone down but it is starting to look pretty purple.

Well you are REALLY hurt - I am just inconvenienced.
It was depressing yesterday afternoon because I went to the studio with my hubby (he teaches karate) and he had some of the black belts from neighboring towns come to spar just for the fun of it. They're in in the 'executive' group now (over 35) so a lot of them do not compete anymore.
Lots of times when they get together like that I will get to suit-up and spar too. They are always really nice to me - but as I sat and watched yesterday - it dawned on me - I have NEVER been hit that hard by one of them. I have seen many of them with busted lips and cuts on their heads (I'm the one who butterflys them) - but never have I gotten hurt. I used to put it down to the fact that I am tough - now I realize that they just were not hitting me. I am depressed about it. I always hit them just as hard as I can.
Now my eye looks like hell and I can't even claim it is a battle wound. I used to be tougher than that. :(

Jethro - it is a little icky to look at but I dont think it is anything serious. And you gotta know me. The last time I saw a doc (for myself) was when I had my last kid and she is 18 now. I DO go to the dentist regularly but that is it.
I just passed out because I stood up too fast. The only thing really hurt is my pride.

I swear tiger, we have so much in comon. My mom started taking karate when she was taking me to the gym every day so many years ago. The karate school was next door. She aquired her black belts in several different styles, the only one I can rememebr off hand is tae kwon do (did I spell that right?) She opened her own dojo when they moved to CA, but she closed it when they moved to Palm Springs.
Anyway, you ARE tough, you just had a little accident, no biggie. I still wish you would see a dr, it would make me feel better, probably your hubby too.

so far (knock on wood) having my mother in law here is a god send. She's cooking, cleaning, helping witht he baby, it's been great. She hasn't even gotten on my case about the baby sleeping in our bed!!!

well...she can be kind of over bearing, but I am humbled by her kindness since all of this ankle stuff happened. She really is enhoying playing with the baby, so I will just be greatful that she is here, until she starts annoying me anyway!!!

Moving right along...
We're having a "Santa Ana" wind condtion right now...it's kind of like a HUGE hurrican (on a smaller scale, without thunder, rain, lightning, hail). Plays Hell on everyone's sinuses. I was telling Suth that it is common to only two places on earth, the other is in the Himalayas where the indigenous people throw themselves off cliffs because they go insane.
Only problem here is there aren't any cliffs.

We're in a desert...which means there is a lot of dust being kicked up and blown around. The whole sky is brown from filth...I'm sure it's MUCH worse where tileman is...it always is.
The dirt gets in the lungs and nose...which makes for some AWESOME boogers the next few days...they tend to be a little "crumbly" though...not enough mucous or something.
