:'(
Does anyone remember when you were a child, and had a favorite place to go out to eat with your family?
Or maybe as an adult you HAD a favorite place to go out to eat, but it closed down. My favorite place to eat was the Rustler Steak House, which closed up in my area.
What was your favorite place to go out to eat, that is now closed down, or went out of buisiness?

My parents never took me out to restaurants. I think they were ashamed of me. I really tried to make them proud of me, but I failed.

I'm sorry, mom and dad.

I miss east coast chinese food...and Bickford's big apples. Here in CA, the chinese food is too damn authentic. Whenever I vsit back east, we pck up chinese on the way home from the airport, and get a big apple for breakfast the next day at Bickford's. ;D

I am not in any neighborhood where I Can FIND a White Castle Hamburger hole-in-the-wall~!! They were amazing if just because of the miniscule size of the average White Castle Hamburger shop about 50-sq ft tops~!!

There was this place in Woodstock called the Dixie Inn when I was a kid. Their fried chicken was almost as good as my mum's, and they had the best macaroni salad. They closed down, and now there's a gas station there instead :'(

We have those here, but they're called Krystals. (We call them 'sliders'. ;) ) When I was about 12 and living in Birmingham, my aunt and uncle brought their family of 7 to stay with us for the weekend. I went with my Dad and my uncle to the Krystal and they ordered 84 hamburgers and fourteen orders of fries. The guy behind the counter didn't even bat an eye. They had it ready in about ten minutes. :)

Of course standards have changed a bit since then... ::)

Just FYI, Krystals and White Castle are not connected. White Castle came out first and was copied by Krystals. Very interesting similarities though. You'd think White Castle would be suing or something. Anyway . . . White Castle is still privately owned and run on a cash basis (no debt), has only about 350 stores mainly in the Midwest. Krystals is mainly seen in the Southeast has about 300 to 400 stores, but is starting to Franchise out. White Castle burgers are also called sliders, and I think White Castle may have the rights to that name now. Krystals burgers are referred to as Krystals (officially) and they have the rights to that name.

Just in case you really wanted to know. :)

They sell White Castles here (frozen) in the stores. Suck majorily much? I have to decide "Do I want a fresh hamburger or a frozen burger?"

I can't get the kids to eat 'em even.

Yes, the frozen are terrible compared to the ones from the retaurant. Next time you're out in the midwest get some real sliders. sooo good.

That's very interesting Wendya...I wouldn't have guessed you were a Sambo's kind of girl...You must be older than dirt too...I thought they all closed up! I worked in one for about three months one summer when I was fifteen. That was a long time ago. It wasn't bad back then but in all reality the food sucked..except for the fried shrimp.....They fired me because I was eating more than I was earning.....god I hated that job.

My favorite fast food is a little place in Kansas City, Missouri.....In-A-Tub...it's been open since 1955 and now has three...count 'em...three locations. The specialty is a deep fried beef taco. On top is some Kraft powdered cheddar cheese....like the stuff in the Macaroni and Cheese box mix and some taco sauce and they serve them in a cardboard tub like container. Sounds terrible but you've never tasted anything like it. Especially when you're nineteen and drunk on your ass from drinking Kansas 3.2% beer. It's still the first place I go when I visit the family. I go eat...then I go see Mom....that should tell you what a real asshole I really am. But she knows....

I don't know if they are closed or not. I do remember the forced car trips every summer from Oregon to California. We'd stop at Denny's or Sambo's..anyplace you could take kids in the days when parents did NOT drag their children into better restaurants. I didn't realize Sambo was politically incorrect until I moved to Georgia. I always thought it was stupid since Sambo was INDIAN . ::) Anyway, I despise political correctness so when I got my recent bulldog I decided his name had to be Sambo...and woe be unto you if you try and call him Sam.

I'm probably going to name my next cat Kitty Kat Kat, of course everyone says I can't name my cat that. I say watch me.

You can name your cat whatever the hell you want. My one cat's name is "cat" I call him baby cat. I just named him what I was gonna call him in the first place.

Of course, if I used that logic for my baby, her official name would be monkey or bunny, so it doesn't ALWAYS work. :D

So long as your last name isn't Rabbit, bunny isn't a bad name. I knew a girl named Candace Cane once. What were her parents thinking?
