View Full Version : Parents of "cloned" child to decide on testing.

The company has so far refused to offer proof of the first cloned child, which they said was born last Thursday and nicknamed "Eve." Many experts have expressed skepticism.

Boisselier said DNA tests had not yet been conducted on the baby and that a decision on whether tests would be carried out at all would be made by the parents.

"The parents told me that they needed 48 hours to decide yes or no — if they would do them," Boisselier told France-2.

The kid is no clone.

If the parents were concerned about the health of their child, they would want the pediatrician and any other doctors they consult with to know the kid is a clone. What are they going to do? Keep it a secret and potentially endanger the health of their child?

Another thing...they paarents supposedly took their less than a week old infant on an international flight back to America. If the child WAS cloned, what are the chances the doctors involved would first, let the kid go after 4 days, and second, let the parents take the child on an international flight at less than a week old knowing the child could have heallth problems that didn't show up in their cursory exam?

This is bogus.

NONE of it including the current considerations you mentioned have added up at all.

WHAT SORT OF PASSPORT would a CLONE need? such a list we could compile ~!!

Boisselier is chief executive of Clonaid, which is linked to a religious sect that believes space aliens created life on Earth.

'Nuff said. ::)

I HAVE SEEN the baby and it is not at all what one could concievably refer to a a pretty sight. it is as a mater of fact one of the more frightening affronts to the human eye that I have encountered in my 56 plus years,.. on this green globe.

If you have the stomach to risk permanant blindness, Raving Madness and several other even less delighful irratations, feel free to take a gander at the Clone ,...Baby~!!!

This case is a classic example of the modern media blindly following the rush of their colleagues, for fear of losing a scoop or missing out on a good frenzy, rather than showing any rational consideration for the truth in service to their audience.

Once upon a time, scam artists like this might have gotten a skeptical paragraph on the back page of a newspaper, and NO coverage at all by television news. That was when reporters were trained on the job to ask the hard questions that cut through hype and bullshit. Now they are trained by leftist professors in journalism schools, with an emphasis on "making a difference."

The shame here is all the media's. You can't really blame the wacko cultists for getting some free publicity.

No, I guess you're right. Any loony organization would drool over the thought of free publicity.

Though it is unfortunate that genetic research had to be made the laughing stock of such a fiasco.

Seriously, how many people really did believe that a clone had been made?

The general public is really ignorant about science and scientific knowledge. This is partly the reason why something like this made it to the front page (and was covered for hours and hours on CNN). If the citizentry were educated in basic science principles, this incident would have been treated like the joke it was. Instead we had other "religious" wackos screaming about the end of the world and God's punishment for fucking with "His" work, we had other people digging out their life savings so they could get into the action and have themselves, their dead children, their favorite pets cloned as well, etc, etc.

People don't even understand how their microwave oven works (duh, it's magic).

Everyone needs a basic understanding of science. Shit like this couldn't happen if they did.

I was told I was the next link up on the human evolution road. If you saw me you would see the future. ;)

We are all the next link up on the evolutionary road, Lonestar - at least those who have chosen to (or accidently) have children.

BTW, I understand perfectly that by choosing to remain childless, I (and my genes) are on an evolutionary dead-end road. Doesn't matter because I think that my time here is for another purpose. I sincerely believe that it is best for the "big picture" if you will. ;D

No problem my genes will pick up the slack. The future looks bright. ;D

Bright indeed. 8)

But only if the products of your genes are anything like you. ;)

Sort of a off-topic thing, how do your kids like the ranch?
I believe that growing up in the country is a fantastic opportunity for children. It was for me. You get to see birth, life, death, sex and all the other fundamentals. You work with your back and your hands and actually get to see (and observe) the final product. There's fresh air, blue skies, wildlife and landscapes that go on forever. There is the being in tune with the seasons, knowing the right time to go berry or mushroom picking, or the perfect time to catch frogs (sounds weird but kids do weird things). The city's got nothing that can beat that. ;)

Oh you're sweet.

The kids have all moved into the city, this place is too far for them. Instead of frogs they like the city lights. Typical isn't it. As they get older they will want to get out of the city and back in the country. I think you have to learn that on your own. As for me, I'm in heaven. :)

I know exactly what you mean. When I reached my teens I couldn't leave the farm fast enough. After spending almost 15 years in the city I discovered it wasn't everything it was cracked up to be. At this stage of my life I just want to go back. Right now we are in the in-between stage (living in a small town) while we save up enough to buy our own "piece of heaven". In the meantime we get our "nature" fix by hiking, camping, stargazing, canoeing, etc. Since we moved here we are continually exploring the area. This summer we are heading into the Rockies again but are going to avoid the people and crowded campgrounds and do some "back-country" camping. I can't wait. ;D

It's a hoax.

The baby is from the cult leader Rael.
