To those who wanted to hear more music by Heather Nova:

Note, many of these songs are from her latest record which was her worst by far, or should we say only record that is not outstanding.

Her live stuff is much rougher than her cd痴 so it might not be totally representative of her, but anyhow here it is.

I love her [music ] both live and in studio.

I like these lyrics. Do you know where I can find the MP3?

Valley of sound

Move me
Don't try
Let the music reach me tonight
Push me over into something new
I've been riding all day on a bus
Just to listen to you

I love, I love, I love I love the look
In your trespassed eyes
I love, I love, I love I love the way
You can make me cry

Sink me into stirred-up sea
Something I can drown in
Only you can do this to me

I love, I love, I love I love the look
In your trespassed eyes
I love, I love, I love I love the way
You can make me cry

Fill me up
And drop me down, yeah
Now I'm alive in the valley of sound
In the valley of sound
In the valley of sound, yeah
In the valley of sound

I love, I love, I love I love the look
In your trespassed eyes, yeah
I love, I love, I love I love the way
You can make me cry

Yeah yeah, in the valley of sound
Hmm, The valley of sound, yeah yeah yeah
Valley, valley, you can,
The valley of sound
Yeah.

Here it is

Valley of sund (http://home.online.no/~morchris/sounds/Heather%20Nova_Valley%20Of%20Sound.mp3)

She wrote the song thinking of the late Jeff Buckley. What a lovely tribute.

Don稚 mention it. Besides wanting to spread the joy of Nova, I知 also bound to do so in order to honor a pledge to help get HN to tour the US.

She have not been able to do so in many a years, and some cyber acquaintances of mine are rather miffed that we Europeans can see her several times a year. ;D

We hope she will do the states when her new record (acoustic CD) comes out in early spring this year. I知 ecstatic.

Heather Nova is definitely not playing on her good looks. She is not one of those who does, and then tells everyone and his grandmother that she is really about the music.

Whenever she is confronted with her looks she sounds embarrassed and changes the subject.

She is the real thing. A musical goddess.

You just earned your self a good ass whooping with that coment son. ;)

Currently she has no record company. She parted ways with V2 recently, and is maybe headed back to Sony. Still she is coming out with an acoustic album soon.

Spare me.If she's parting ways with one, going back to another, with an album coming out soon, she's contracted somewhere.V2 or whatever will still be marketing regardless.
On her good looks,I might add.

A 'Big Cat' deal for Heather Nova
Posted January 26th, 2003
Heather Nova 's new album will be released by Big Cat Records, the London-based indie label that was a previous home to Pavement, Jeff Buckley, Luscious Jackson, Mercury Rev and Blumfeld among others.
The record will be released through different companies throughout the World: as we write, deals have been made with Columbia Records for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and with Up Music/Warner for France. In UK and Ireland, Big Cat Records releases are distributed by Pinnacle. Negotiations are taking place for distribution in many other territories, including USA and Canada.
The reason for Heather's involvement with Big Cat Records is due to the increasing pressure from her previous labels to make her music and image more commercial, which lead to a constant battle on which she wouldn't compromise. Thus came the decision to produce her new album, which she is currently recording in Bermuda, in a totally independent way."

As you might remember I said her latest album was not up to her standards. She took the consequences of the corporate pressure to sell out, and took control over he _ music _ career.

Yee of little faith

Nope.Me of VAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST experience in the music business.
Indie label, whatever. She's under contract to a label, and regardless of the flowery bullshit press, they're in business to MAKE MONEY.If her album tanks, look for her to QUIETLY "go commercial",or go back to waiting tables.
I've known more than a few of the art type performers who've happily "gone commercial" when contemplating working for a living as opposed to performing.

If she chooses failure over success for her principles, more power to her.
Kinda doubt it,though.

She is not a 16 year old newbie. She have been a small fish in a large barrel for along time, and apparently chose to continue being so by dropping a label that wanted to change her music to be more commercially viable.

Now repent and listen to the wonder that is Heather Nova.

No thanks.I'm not taking off Elmore James for any chick singer, newbie, vet, whatever. The neighbor's Basset will suffice if I need to hear anything like that.
Again, she's got good management who have good maketing skills. She's gonna sell a shitload of records to folks who'll buy her records because she isn't....TADAAAAAAAAA..."commercial".Nothing like cashing in on comforming non-conformists. ;D
