Are we to assume that you object to them for one reason or another?
I knew many when I lived in Arizona. Some went to church with me, other's were neighbors. As people they were just ordinary nice folks but when politics came up they were into conspiracies galore, nothing would make them happy. Every politician was a communist. Their greatest enemy in life was their own government. They viewed their politics more important than God, family or friends. Strange people in that way.

Sorry, just jumping to conclusions again.
Aren't they the group that helps people in jail and stuff?
No, they are people who think everyone is a communist except them.

Like many fringe groups, the Birchers like to put on a happy face and pretend that they are "enlightened conservatives." When you dig a little deeper, you find that they trust no one except other Birchers, and only those who have been members for a while.
The phrase "lunatic fringe" was first coined to describe the John Birchers, if memory serves correctly.
Le manque d'évidence prouve la conspiration!

From their main site :
http://www.jbs.org/
"Featured Product: William F. Buckley, Jr.: Pied Piper for the Establishment - $24.95
Conservatism used to equal an undeniable love for God, family, and our Republic. That was before the "neo" conservatives came, before William F. Buckley, Jr. was chosen by the liberal establishment as the chief spokesman for conservatives. From the 1960s to today, conservative Americans have been led astray by Buckley and other false conservatives who want to interject the U.S. government into almost every aspect of our lives."
Please. Buckley? The "chief spokeman for conservatives"?? Give me a break... ::)

Well I ain't no John Bircher, but some people say I'm a Son of a Birch. At least I think that's what SOB stands for.
For the record, John Birch was never a member of the John Birch Society. He was an undercover secret agent of the US government that was spying on China before the Korean War, got caught, and was executed.
Robert Welch, founder of the John Birch Society, said John Birch was the first American casualty in the war against Communism.
BTW, wasn't Mrs Dubya's maiden name Welch?

Before Buckley founded National Review, there was NO conservative voice in the media at all. About the only conservative intellectual around was Russell Kirk. Buckley, of course, disdained fringe wackos like the Birchers, which explains why they hate him so much.
As lonestar said earlier, the Birchers are a black-and-white outfit. If you aren't part of their org, you must be part of the commie conspiracy against them.
One of my Dad's oldest friends was a life-long Bircher. He used to give Dad literature all the time, which Dad shuffled into a drawer. I would periodically check the drawer and read the new stuff. Back in the 60s and 70s, they were wailing against the Rockefellers and the Trilateral Commission and the CFR, etc. All, in the Birch view, were part of the International Communist Conspiracy. They are the original conspiracy nuts.
Their principle appeal has always been to less-educated whites, usually in blue collar jobs and mainly in the South. This explains in part the attraction for Tony and his Merry Momenfelchers . . .

Apparently some are having trouble finding common ground with their fellow Americans.
However I will keep trying. After all I am a Uniter, not a Divider.
The original conspiracy whackos, accept no substitutes.

It wasn't long ago that talk of a trilateral commission would get you laughed at..........and then a couple of years ago it was published in many newspapers about hillery giving the opening speach for one of their yearly shindigs..........hmmmmm
I read the Rockefeller Files...........and found it believable.
The people I've known that were involved were good people.
How about MY exposure says otherwise?..... ;)
Not that some of them aren't on the edge or fanatical.......I just didn't know any.

Whats wrong with Birch? They are kind of basic....but they are telling the truth, they just focus on a certain part...but the Game is much bigger then they let on.

Neither know nor care...they are SOOOOOOOO 'fifties!
I once heard Limbaugh tell a funny story of how, as a young radio guy, they trried to recruit him and took him to a seminar. He thought they were the kookiest bunch of eccentrics he'd ever seen.

They are quite active in my town. I know several personally.
Once they put a paper under my wiper advertising a speaker coming to town. I quoted that flier in a letter to the editor, and I was officially told my letter started the ball rolling that got Nixon dumped by Deep Throat.

It has been a long while since I have heard the Birchers mentioned. I seem to remember that they claimed that the US government had been infiltrated by communists . . . they were completely right. Other than that, they seemed to be far too reactionary for my tastes. When I see the likes of "Moveonorg" and George Soros I see the opposite end of the spectrum. Political whackos all.

They even claimed Ike was a pinko.
Robert Welch, the candy tycoon, started the John Birch Society. -- Wasn't Laura Bush originally Laura Welch? Is she one of those Welches?

The best way to hide a Communist is have him/her impersonate and pose as a right winger in the heart of the John Birch Society.
And you bet our government is still full of Communist agents provacateur.

The one I knew, who was so far to the right he was about to fall off the edge of the flat earth, died a couple of years ago.
One of my unpublished novels, THE PROUD EAGLE OPTION, was loosely based on his imaginary wife, who, unknown to him, was the top general in the Communist Infrastructure of America. I mean, who would ever suspect a girl, and a wife of one of the far right religious fanatics who formed his own RIGHT-WING CHRISTIAN church and recruited, armed, and trained right wing soldiers that he called the Paul Reveres, anti-communists soldiers from all fifty states who were prepared to fight the Second American Revolution.

Nope. You speak the truth. There are more John Birchers, and Son's of Birchers running around in these Wyoming hills than you can shake a Dick at.
BTW, the old dickhead who died was named Dick.
