From the story:
Aigistov confirmed a report in Moskovsky Komsomolets that Alexandrov is studying whether the books violate Article 282 of the Criminal Code, which deals with instigation of ethnic, racial or religious enmity. Violators, if convicted, face up to five years in prison.
Guess they'll be investigating Orthodox Christianity next.

Did I ever mention the Church of the Goddess that I ran across in Seattle back around 1990? It seems that they took money in return for providing Spiritual Guidance. What was really strange is that you had to be naked for the laying on of hands.
Only in Seattle!!!!!!!!

To be fair, I doubt strongly that these Ladies were serious pagans. They had simply found a magic 'get out of jail free card' good ONLY in Seattle. Folks there have a genetic predisposition to collapse in toxic shock if accused of lacking in acceptance of Diversity.

There are Pagan groups that do practice ritual nudity; there are still others that practice group sex magick. I won't be part of a group that requires either any more than I would be part of a group restricted either activity. I just think that being naked or having sex should always be voluntary, not manditory.

Pagans are by and large, very tolerant and accepting individuals and groups. I would be pretty surprised to find many pagan groups that 'insisted' on participation skyclad.
But I think most members are pretty open to it. As far as exibitional sex that ritually symbolises fertility - I see no problem with it. As long as it is consensual.

Some groups that I've encountered require both to even initiate you. I don't need to be part of anything enough to fuck someone I don't know or be naked in front of them.
Kinda makes you wonder what they are REALLY interested in, doesn't it?
I don't blame you one bit.

In Long Beach, Ca, Cecelia Garcia, Chemish Indian pagan digs a 6' deep, 70' wide fire pit in the back yard of her rented home for pagan group very noisy dancing and chanting rituals with rattles under the full moon attended by dozens of friends and supporters. She lives off donations from her 40 to 60 supporters and other sympathizers. The neighbors, the city and the landlord are having to put up with all this. The landlord has sued to no avail, fighting to get her evicted and the city has backed off from all their complaints after she threatened to sue. She plans to deepen the pit and raise funds for an ongoing fire in the pit.
How would you like a neighbor like this in your residential neighborhood? How would you like to own property either as a landlord or a neighbor and see your hard earned equity vanish?
No one, and I mean NO ONE should be allowed to have a fire pit in their (or anyone else's) backyard in a populous city like Long Beach. Where is the Fire Marshall when all this is going on? This is illegal and shouldn't be tolerated. The neighbors shouldn't have to do anything. It's against the law.
Addendum: This goes for Pagans and Christians as well. If you're a pain in the ass to your neighbors and are interfering with their right to quiet enjoyment, you are plain and simple an asshole. This isn't a religious issue. This is a rudeness issue.

1. She's an American Indian
2. She's not a Christian American Indian.
3. She's a pagan American Indian demanding religious freedom.

Ah, that's the problem. All she has to do is claim she's native American and the government is usually willing to bend over backwards to accomodate.

In the case of my old neighbors, they were ONE of the deciding factors in moving. They played their shitty music LOUD all day and then when mom and dad wearn't home, the teenagers played their even shittier music ALL DAY LOUD. It was that "kill yer mamma" rap shit that I cannot stand. grrrr.
But anyway, now we live in a neighborhood with mostly retired people and it's much nicer. :D

Well, if you're standing on your property line smoking, blowing smoke into your neighbor's open window which is located a foot from your property, maybe your neighbor would have a case. But a 70 foot fire pit accompanied with all that runkus?

Trust me it has nothing to do with her being Pagan; it's because she's Native American. No one wants to tell her she can't do it because then they'd be branded racist. Being called racist will lose you an election very fast.
In this case she's wrong. She should have way more respect for her neighbours than that. One of the principles of my faith is to be respectful and mindful of others, and that includes not having loud parties and bonfires near other people's houses. If she wants to have this kind of stuff she needs to buy lots of land where she won't disturb other people.

Religion has to do with the spiritual and the soul of man. Folks who give no care to their soul or religion haven't a clue.

Buz: Religion has to do with the spiritual and the soul of man.
Lance: And just what in Hell makes you more knowing about the spirit and soul of man than me?

What if he is right?
What if he is right?
Then it's my problem not his.
What if I'm right? What if God isn't some psycho abusive sky daddy who punishes people for disagreeing with him?

What is god is a very black, very pissed off woman. God could also be a universal concept of love. The truth of the matter is that none of us know for sure, and we should stop insulting, abusing and killing each other over it.

Jehovah is not abusive. It's just that when you own the universe you set it up your way and too bad for those who insist on another way.
Btw, the Bible is about the truth concerning the remedy for fallen man's dilema. It's not God's fault if man rejects that.

Yahweh not abusive?!? What the fuck? "Here I'll give you freewill, but if you choose wrong I'll break your fucking legs you little bastards." --God.

Thanks for misquoting me. Nothing beats someone who can't win an argument resorting to misquoting the other person.
BTW I know people who have been abused by the courts and the police because they were out of the closet in their small communities. I know a woman who has received bomb threats against herself and her business, and the police are turning a deaf hear to her because she's not Christian. If that's not abuse praytell Buzzbrain what is?

Yah, abuse happens to all and on occasion Christians are often on the receiving end of it as well. So what's new?

I never said that all fundies are idiots. I was talking about one idiot using his religion to further a very petty cause. If you see yourself in that image that's your problem, not mine.

Ok, Liz, continue to make it hard for me to surface the truth. Did you or did you not say fundies, (plural), are idiots? To most this speech implies fundies as a group.

Ok you proved me wrong. Are you happy you old bastard? How about you equating all Pagans with some cunt in Long Beach with a damn fire pit in her yard. Or even better equating us all with some morons with cows.
Don't try to act all holier than thou Buz, you're guilty of the same thing. So get off your high horse before the straps on the saddle break.

I agree with your conclusion.
I believe your hypothesis to be false.
God is not male nor female.
God is not black nor white.
God is therefore very much like
Michael Jackson :)

I think the closest to this I am guilty of is to state that as you observe the fruits of paganism in history, things like this is what it, most often, eventually descends into, and even worse in the jungles. Otherwise I don't think you will be able to document that I've ever equated all pagans to this.

No of course you don't do that buzzy. You never ever do that, why you're St. Buzzy.
The minute someone says Pagan you come up with a woman in Long Beach disturbing the peace with a fire pit or a bunch of Hare Krishnas in your friend's town.
