A little weight gain from pregnancy is one thing, but a new study (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/161761_medi24.html) suggests the more children a woman or a man has, the greater the risk that he or she will become obese.
"This suggests that a substantial portion of the effect of obesity related to parenthood has to be social, cultural or psychological."
The risks were calculated after making statistical adjustments for age, race and ethnicity, household income, work status, level of physical activity and tobacco and alcohol use.
"After adjusting for all these factors, the number of children played a statistically significant role in the obesity of both men and women," said Dr. Truls Ostbye, senior author of the study and a professor of community and family medicine at Duke.
Nornec has 7 children, doesn't he? ;)
