Here's the notice when you try to access the forums:

NEWSMAX FORUM

Dear Forum Participants:

Very soon, NewsMax will be unveiling our new web site design.

Integral to the redesign of the site will, at some point in the near future, entail a section allocated to personal web logs, commonly called “blogs,” where users will be able to have what would essentially be their own space for commentary on NewsMax.com.

During our transition from the old to the new, we will be discontinuing the Forum’s operations.

Please make sure that you sign up for NewsMax’s free e-mail alerts and our Insider Report, so that we may notify you by e-mail when our Blog page is ready.

Thank you,

NewsMax.com

I hate to show such gross ignorance, but what's a blog? Does it do something different?

As I understand Blogs [ or B-Logs ] they are akin to writing a Diary on the web,..which TO MY WAY OF THINKING,.DO NOT constitute a particlularly immediate form of DIALOG generating communications.

I am Glad to see so many NEWSMAX regulars here, as I felt as though I had been evicted from my Home away from Home last night~!!!

I'm here. It's been a crazy day. Wanted to monitor all of this but - no time.

This is a cool forum.

I may need some time to adjust - seeing as I am not very cyber-friendly.

Glad you are here.

I will be off and on the next few days. And then, lonestar. I will be VERY close to you for Thanksgiving. And if yoo are naughty - I will be secretly releasing the WOLF.

Now you know me.

I have NO idea who she is - but she was wagging her tail a LOT this morning before NM shut down. Bragging, etc.

Gotta be someone we know?

Who all showed up?

Yeah, it did not quite remind me of you.

Of course, you ARE sly like a fox.

But the chicken thingy. Really, ls, it is beneath you.

Man, there are a lot of frickin buttons up there.

Will I need to enroll in a community college class to figure them out? This may be too taxing on my brain.

You gotta watch some of these buttons, I locked my very own thread.

That wasn't a chicken! I'm searching for that 'perfect' picture that expresses my personality. ;D

A "BLOG" - short for weblog - is a journal or diary kept on the net. For practical purposes, the main difference between a blog and a message board is that a blog always keeps the most recent post on top. An example of a blog with multiple contributors is National Review Online's The Corner:http://www.nationalreview.com/thecorner/corner.asp

An excellent example of a personal blog is Martin Kramer's Sandstorm, which deals with Middle Eastern issues, at http://www.martinkramer.org/pages/899529/index.htm.

The problem with a blog with many users is similar to a message board with just one thread. Or even if a separate blog were started for each subject area - Iraq, for example - it would quickly get too long. Blogs are harder to archive and research, since they don't confine themselves to narrow topics.

There are plenty of places that will host a blog for free, and several cheap versions of blogging software available. Why anybody would pay NewsMax any significant sum to have a blog there is beyond me.

They have taken a board that was well established, with thousands of members and lurkers, and hundreds of active posters, and apparently trashed it to sell blogspots to what I presume will be a few dozen people at most. Idiots.

I think he was just pecking - not boinking. But I could be wrong. It has been a crazy day.

I'm sure they will get a few takers. It's a big internet (thanks, Al!) and there are always a few suckers for any proposition, no matter how preposterous or overpriced it may be. That's why they keep sending all that spam email - somebody actually buys that stuff! ;D

Speaking of spam...tonight I got an e-mail with the heading "Have you ever seen a girl suck a horse?" It had a picture attached. I deleted without opening. I do apologize if one of you sent it.

It was supposed to go to badnews, in return for posting the nekkid pictures of the mods on NMax.
You didn't happen to forward to him before you deleted it, did you?

Oh, and Hi Tig...er, CherryBomb!

Burning Sky ~ Well, if you've tried everything, I suppose it is beyond hope. However, I see "I'm so confused" in your sig line. "&quot" is code, so perhaps it is in your browser settings.
