I need shelves on my kitchen walls strong enough to hold dishes , boxes of cereal.. or any other shit i need space for.
This apartment is grossly "under cupboarded" and I need to put something up to use.
Keep in mind I have hung many mnay pictures, and have yet to hit a stud..
How am I gonna do it? :-\

Just leave it out on the counter tops. That way nothing ever gets forgotten about and gets old.

I seriously doubt that information would be relevant to this disussion. ;D

Are there any electrical outlets on that wall? That's one stud....then look 16-24 inches from there. If all else fails, and tapping doesn't work, you might want to buy a big container of spackle and a long nail. ;)

You may have to brace it in the middle.

What you need is a stud finder. I mean a real stud finder not the homo version. Suggest you get Liz to help. If you've got a stud on call, not the feminine version that MadG is talking about, you won't have any more problems with getting things to stick to the wall or anything else for that matter. You do have quite a handicap with four kids of course but if you put on a little paint, lose ten pounds you'll be in stud heaven in no time and the last thing you'll be worried about is where to store your dishes.

Why do I have to tell you girls everything?

Oh, one more thing. I know how to hang a 30 inch span that will hold anything you can put up there but I'm not telling. You've been mean to me lately. 8)

Ask Suth how she hit BN....think it over, move four inches to the right, see IRI, move two inches left.....swing hard and hit me right between the eyes ;D

Buy a freestanding armoir type thingy, from Ikea or something. Open shelves with boxes of food and cans and stuff won't look that great anyway.

Aside from the personals? ;)

Black and Decker BDL150S Stud Sensor (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000C6DWL/ref%3Dpd%5Fsl%5Faw%5Falx-jeb-8-1%5Fhome%5F3657408%5F1/103-7601171-9664632), Price $9.99

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000C6DWL.01.MZZZZZZZ.jpg

There are even cheaper versions. One that I had many years ago was a simple swiveling magnet that would point to hidden nails driven into the stud.

Hey I've been pricing things there, and the "official" tally may be .35 more, but the prices they charge you guys for goods are WAY above that.......not to mention it's for models discontinued here in many cases.....

Take property.........shit it's the same price as Southen CA in many cases.....now I could see maybe south dakota property....but damn man......it's crazy expensive around a large city

Her opinion on Canada.. sucks shit..I add with fair confidence. ;D

We have a pre-fab factory in town here. (We have no restaurant, store, bar, liquor store or post office, but we have a pre-fab factory).
It is owned by a reputable family now. Previously, it was owned by a not-so-great buncha people. I still remember watching our neighbours as kids place the bucket of their tractor on their roof that was blowing off in a winter storm..
Not the shingles.. the whole damn corner. :o
