I just bought the kids a gamecube for Christmas. It has more memory, faster processer and timeclock than Playstation 2, and has a better selection of kid oriented games.

I wish you had gotten our advice before you made your purchase. Playstation 2 is far better, or so I'm told.

I've played both, and from what I can see, the only benefit of Playstation 2 is the DVD. Well, I already have one, and I have inside information that my parents got us another one. 8) I don't know why, maybe they didn't know we already had one.

Anyway, here's a rundown on technical information. Granted the statistics are from a gamecube site, but the numbers are accurate.

Kids don't want "kids games." They want mayhem and murder, blood and gore and a little titty. I've never had a Nintendo, but it seems fairly cool. Had both the PS2 and the "Box", and the "professional" gamers prefer those two.

On the other hand, the best computer for "games" is the Mac.

<excuse me while I puke>

Mario Bros. and Toy Story are the most violent games my girls have ever seen. :)

Dad, on the other hand will enjoy long hours of Metal of Honor, and 007

Ooooooooo!! Mario Brothers. ::)

My 12 year old is upstairs picking up hookers and blowing away cops and shooting people in the nuts with a Mac 10 as we speak.

Of course, his psychiatrist doesn't like those games.

Why not? Games like those probably keep psychaitrists in the money. :)

My girls are only 7 and 5. I'm bummed enough as it is, for having to teach my 7yr old how to put the little punk that choked her on his back. She doesn't need to practice it in her playtime too.

guido ~ 7 & 5, and they get a gamecube for Christmas? Why, when I was that age, all we got for Christmas was a piece of peppermint hard candy. Had to share it, too.

But we were glad to get it!

And you had to walk 10 miles in the snow to get to school?

Nah, they didn't know I was holding back pennies out of my wages from pickin' cotton barefoot in the snow.

I have the regular old playstation, haven't "upgraded" I'll wait until Alexa is gaming age and get the most current one. All I play is Crash Bandicoot and Tombraider anyway. I have beat them all, but I like to delete my saved games and start from the beginning. I'm trying to beat Crash 2 on one life at the moment, I already accomplished that with Crash One. I'm not into the more violent ones, even Tombraider can be a bit much at times. :D

The last console game system I had was an Atari 7800. I've been a strictly PC-gamer for years now.
