If your machine will serve your needs with just a memory upgrade, that's the best way to go.

I upgraded out my memory to the max capacity early last year...my machine will be 4 years old in March. I'm not buying another until this one DIES.

I know if you're mixing and matching memory...like pc100 and pc133, even though it's supposed to be ok.....sometimes it glitches and causes problems.

As cheap as it is now, I'd max it with good stuff rather than the cheapie computer show type crap, and make sure it's all the same.

I'm not a hardware expert, so you're gonna have to explain that to me.

When I open up the box, where exactly am I going t o see these specs?

If you have a brand PC you can look it up on their webpage. Not that brands like PB and Compaq often use(d) special Ram modules, so a generic module might not work.

Also look at tilemans post, buying a cheap no brand module could make your PC unstable, it will work, but with a lot of blue screens and other fun errors.

Sometimes there is a sticker on the old RAM modules, stating what kind you have.
