View Full Version : What Does THIS Mean????
Every now and then when I am online I will get an error message that pops up and says. "Run time error - Do you want to de-bug?"
I have said 'yes' before but then some screen pops up and I don't know what is going on and I cancel it. Now, I just say 'no'.
Why does it do that? Is if a big problem?

If you were a computer guru you could
maybe figure out waht is causing the operating system
to bump. I'm not a guru for Windoze so
i just say NO.
Say NO to windoze :)

Cherry-more than likely it's a javascript code error on the page you are trying to browse. Translation-not your fault.
Do you always get it on the same "type" of pages (i.e. Geocities pages)? Is it often on the same page itself?
What browser and version are you using?
I'm using Explorer and I have Windows XP.
You are right about the "runtime error" popping up sometimes two or three times on one site.
I am encouraged that it may not be something in my system. Some sites never give me the message and others do all the time.
Should I ever run the 'debug' thingy? I tried a couple of times - but didnt' know what I was doing and it seemed to not do anything anyway.
I have noticed recently that the sites that do it the most are usually little personal sites. I do a lot of genealogy research and folks have little dinky sites that I browse. These are the biggest triggers for the runtime errors.

No-it's not something you should run. To turn off that "feature":
(in IE)
Tools
Internet Options
Advanced Tab
(under the browsing heading)
Check "Disable Script Debugging"
Uncheck (if checked) "Display a notification for every script error"

Did I ever tell you about the Boy Scout a buddy of mine and I helped fix his computer in a live chat with f disk?
All of a sudden, he left the room. I thought that was extremely rude.

I'm still trying to figure out why my printer prints everything hot pink. So far my efforts have mainly stretched to printing repeatedly and staring at the mf saying, "yep, still pink."
I have replaced the cartridges, aligned the cartridges, cleaned the cartridges. It ain't the cartridges.
Today I plan to delete the printer settings and reinstall just for the fucking hell of it.

Uh... it's not error-free now, IE just isn't telling you about them anymore. Brandonl already knows this, but I just thought I'd clear it up...

I think MS stopped using some java reading thingy from another company for a while, but that they have changed their mind later on. Perhaps it's something else I'm thinking about.
I think I found the missing 'codec ?', somewhere else and downloaded it.

Not that it sucks-it's not there until you download SP1 for XP. It's a result of Sun's lawsuit. MS simply said: "Fine, we just won't include the Java VM then".

Actually, XP doesn't come with a Java Virtual Machine. You can get it with SP1, or download one from a third-party.
