I don't agree with the t-shirt, and the kid should have probably been sent home to change it. I just think that contacting the FBI was over the top. This should have been kept between this student, her/his parents and the school.

"The shirt has a picture of President Bush on it and the words, "not my president." The picture also showed cross-hairs on the Bush's forehead."

I agree with the t-shirt, and I think it's just free speech.
Burning politicians in effigy is a time-honored tradition, and a good one. Secret service involvement was not warranted, there was no actual threat of real assassination. The school should have supported free speech.

They should have explained to the student that you aren't allowed to make public death threats agains the president. Calling the FBI was way over the top and calls in to serious question the professional abilities of the principal who did it. what a putz!

There's a difference between threats and a picture with crosshairs, which is more like burning in effigy.

If he had a gun and was going on a trip to meet George Bush, and had told people he would kill him, that would be a threat.

The shirt in and of itself was not a threat against the president. Calling the FBI was over the top.
