Hubby still gone and the tire on the mower is flat. I already tried mowing the 4 acres with a push mower - but am getting not too far too fast.
I think I can figure a way to brace the mower with a homade fulcrum jobby and lift the front tire - but it is not only flat - it is off the rim. Well - still ON the wheel - but just hanging there loosely. I have a compressr and "fix-a-flat" to fill it with - but how do I get it to form back on the wheel? IF I just squirt the air in - it comes out the loose areas. ARggggghhhhh.... where is a man when I need one????? :'(

If I didn't have a friggin flat - I would never admit that - but YES - you guys ARE pretty handy at times.
Now tell me what to do........grrrrr
Get a gardner, they bring their own equipment.

If you have an extended warranty, I'd call those guys. :)

Thank you for that wise and very helpful advice - little mommy of the year..... :P. I can do this - if I just knew how.
BTW - how is the little one doing? Put some headphones on that tummy and introduce him/her (I thnk it will be a boy) early to Mozart. ;)

Nah it is almost two years old. And I think I ran over a goat head to put a hole in it - but I should have noticed earlier - like when I felt a wet spray on my leg and it was not raining. Becasue then the tire would have still been on the rim.

Hey, I'm just saying. Around here, you can hire a Mexican for about $20 a month to mow, weed and fertilize.

I think it's a boy too, he's a squirmer. I'm gonna have very, very sore ribs when this one gets big enough to reach them with his feet.

Not that I think I understand the problem perfectly, but what if you just fixed the hole in the flat, started pumping the wheel, when it gets about half way up form it on the wheel, pump it up the rest of the way.

Well there is like a two inch gap all the way around where air will leak out - until I get it fitted on there somehow. I just cant figure out how. The rim is all by itself and the tire is jsut hanging there. IT doesn't have a tube inside - but the fix-a-flat would seal the hole if I could get the tire to hold any air - I think. I am pretty lost here and about to go back to the push mower......

All we have here is Swedes - and not too bright ones at that. But who am I to talk?
Just wait until he turns upside down and stretches - cutting off your breath with his little feet and putting incredible pressure on your bladder. Remember that????? ;)

Perhaps you should go to the store and get a new wheel.

That sounds like the best advice so far. I hate breaking down and doing that - but I probably should.
Thank you much kiddo. 8)

The rest of the world is thanking god too. ;)
It's like this, "Hey mommy, can you hear me out there?? Well...you;re snoring, it must be bed time...ok, in that case, do you mind if I use your bladder as my pillow? No? Ok, let me just punch it a little bit here...ok, there we go, perfect. Ahhhh, oh wait, what are these things by my feet? They're like sticks, let me just see if I can move them by kicking them. Darn, they won't budge. Oh, youre not snoring any more...did I wake you mommy? I'm sorry"

But for all that - it's the greatest - isn't it? I loved it. Except labor - I didn't love that.

Take the wheel off the axle & run it into town to have the local garage reinflate on the proper equipment. Once the seal to the rim is messed up trying to do the job on the axle is pure pain. Ten bucks and half an hour & you are back in business.

I don't mind labor so much, it hurts, but it's not THAT bad. Being pregnant is not my favorite thing, but it's worth it.

Well, I think I'll stop after making the baby, then resume when it comes time to raise the baby.

When you DO get married and have a kid, my advice to you is do what ever the hell your wife says for the first month. ;)

For the first month? Is that all we expect from our men nowadays? ;D

I mean after the initial month, things can go back to normal. Well, for the most part. I spent the better part of the first month sleeping. ;D

What truelies said. Take the wheel off and take it to a tire shop or garage. An NTB, TiresPlus, or something like that will work too.
To jack the mower up (assuming its a relatively sizeable tractor), you can probably use a scissor-type jack that is found in most cars. You might have to be creative where you put the jack, but it should work.
Its a pain to do on the axle. 8)

All you have to do is jack up the wheel off the ground, or take the wheel off. Then put soap around the rims of the tire where they meet the metal...inside rim and outside rim. Then take a rope or bungee cord and wrap it around the tire (down the middle of the tread). This will push the sides out to meet the rim. The soap will help seal it. Then you can inflate it.
Old Apache trick. ;D
Hire a Mexican, that is STILL my vote. :D
