View Full Version : ALLERGY SHOTS. . . . . . . .
Tomorrow I'm going in to have all of them tests done on my arms, you know, where they poke you with 769 million needles with shit on them to see what your allergic to. Any of yall ever had these done?? Anybody taking the shots?? Do they work. I feel like a pile of cow shit that has been run over by a hay truck. I mean, I'm miserable. And that over the counter shit has quit working. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Ouch. I had it done when I was a kid. I received allergy shots weekly for a couple of years.
It didn't make me "immune" to the allergens but it kept me from being constantly sick with sinus infections.
Thats the same with me, I took the shots when I was a kid playing football and seemed like they kind of worked. I was hoping they had improved them in the last 25 years. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Yeah, unfortunately...they don't last a lifetime. So far I've been lucky. I really don't want to do the shots again.

I had the tests done. They said I should have the shots. But I haven't really had the money or the time to do it. Some of mine tested in the potentialy life-threatening range. Since I refused the shots, they gave me an epi pin and wished me luck.
Is it possible that allergies are psychosomatic?

I think it is possible that some allergic-like reactions are psychosomatic. I think that might even often be the case.
With the tests, they pricked my back about a thousand times. I had no idea what they pricked me with or where. The ones produced huge, ugly sores were the ones they determined I was allergic to. Since you can't see what they are doing, it would be hard for you mind to conjure up the reactions.
But I think your susceptibility to real allergies is complicated by your state of mind...if that makes sense. The sensitivity is a real physical condition. The degree to which it hinders your life is psychological...at least in part.

My wifes a doc. I buy the serum from the doc who correctly diagnosed the allergen, and wifey gives me my shot each wk...saves the $20/shot fee Id have to pay and ins picks up the full cost of the serum...
Hoss...do it man....if you're suffering..I discovered that:
Allergens youve endured successfully for decades will eventually overcome you
Make sure your allergist deduces the specific allergen.. I continued to suffer for a year while receiving weekly shots which made my arm swell until I tried another doc and another set of tests.During that year I was taking benadryl or choripheniramene every 2 hours and alternating when ones effectiveness slackened and was still draining constantly..I was eating mexican chicken soup in June since it was one of the few things which temporarily eased my swollen throat..
Doc number 2, unlike doc #1 determined that I was allergic to a specific kind of dust mit, instead of generic dust mites. Within 2 weeks on the new serum the drainage was reduced by 85% and into the tolerable range.. During the one uncontrollable flare up within that year, 4 days of steroids puts the uprising back down into the normal range, where the shots can dal with it...
So, If you dont find relief, try another doc, the one who was ultimately successful for me runs an environmental medicine practice...ie workplace poisons and such...

Stop!! You're making me hard. ::)
Would you mind putting on a Levi jacket or something?

But that would "scratch."

They called this morning and cancelled untill next thursday. Fukk, man, I'm dying here. I feel like shit. I can't take nothing because of the impending tests, so I set in my chair with a cold wet wash cloth on my eyes. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Too bad you're a tax payer. If you were an illegal, you'd be enjoying America's finest medical care at the Mayo Clinic for free.
