Hello! :) I've been here only moments and already feel relief. I am a veteran to message boards but never a political one. I have to say, I have been in some political cat fights lately, but I am not bitter. I'm hoping to engage in some mature, focused political discussions and maybe voice some observations and frustrations of my own, it being an election year and all. ;)
I am 39..uggh ..I mean 29 and holding. lol I have an 18 year old daughter I have home schooled since her 4th grade year. She is in her first year of college and I just moved to Oklahoma from Texas. I am married, going to school myself, and looking for a job. I love to communicate on the net and I am truly looking forward to getting to know all of you.
Here's me..

I homeschool my middle-schooler as well. I could use your advice.:)

Hi, Gypsy! Jessi started out in my footsteps, Graphic Design, but has found her passion in Child Development since she visited a Pre-K classroom. :) She's kinda fickle, though. She has wanted to become Microsoft Certified, a stay at home mom, a photographer, and even a Mid Wife. I'm very proud! :p How old is your son?

Welcome.
Won't say you won't find a couple of "cat" and dog fights here as well.
For the most part, even the most heated ones ultimately end in a draw and we all go on.
Useful place not just to discuss and debate but learn.
Lots of people with lots of eyes, lots of info runs thru these pages. It helps a lot if you want to keep your finger on the pulse of current events.

But the friggin' libs have been "running" now for two years.
This election is getting old.

Hi Elektra,
Welcome!!
We have some things in common. I grew up in Texas; I'm just a few months older than you; I have a 16yo son who I didn't homeschool, but he has attended a small charter school since K and I was always very involved in volunteering until I went back to college myself. His goal is to get into a music school for college. I will graduate next semester with my BS and then - hopefully - start working on my master's so I can get it done and get a good paying job to help my son through college.
What classes are you taking? What are you going to school for?

I hear ya, bib! :)
Hey, Julia! I'm impressed! Thanks for the welcome. I'm going for my Associates. I've been taking Advertising/Graphic Design classes for a year. I did not get into any classes this semester here in Oklahoma :( but I'm working on things for the Spring. I didn't anticipate having to take another entrance exam up here and I ran out of time. I guess I should have said I am looking forward to going back to school in my introduction. It's hard not to think of myself as a student. ;)

Ch-ya! I feel like I'm on it full time.
My close friend is a lib and so our differences are coming up a lot lately. Our last conversation was about 'banned books' and today, she tried to bump off McCain by asking me about Palin's presidential qualifications. She's a little behind, which works for me. lol
They come out of the woodwork, too. I joined Facebook the same night I joined here and an old classmate wrote to me today. I barely talked to this girl in school, haven't talked to her since. She sees this as my profile pic
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b344/dlivewyer/Nobo2.jpg
and writes this...
"Hey Stacey,
How are you? Wow, from your profile photo I guess you are one of those womyn who are not totally offended and disgusted by the choice of Sarah Panlin? I have heard about about womyn like you on the news, but didn't know they really existed because I don't know any personally...I just assumed they were making it up! LOL. ; )
Hope you are doing well.
