Jeremy: I think Marty was telling me about a place like this up by his neck of the woods too! (Jersey) It was one of those little burgs and the only way to get from point A to point B was to go thru their town. And THAT was how the town made its money...with just absolutely ridiculous tickets.

I don't think its limited to a couple of places. I grew up in a small town and I really think many of the small burgs out there make their money this way. Sad...but true. >:(

Looks like New Rome made the Los Angeles times. If this was just one of those tiny burgs why did it make it all the way into the LA Times?

NYC use to send traffic tickets to people all over the state whether they were ever in the city or not. I got one n wrote back that I was'nt in the city n going to take this up with a friend in the legislature. ( I didn't say my friend was a county man n not a state man.) I got a quick answer back of apology for the "mistake." Too many people got these for mistakes. Likely most didn't want the hassle n sent in the fine. Btw, there use to be a town out in Arizona that was a speed trap town -- Winslow, I think, but not positive.
