???
I read this somewhere but I can't remember where, but I read that the only reason illegal aliens keep comming across our boarders is because they are being allowed to. The reason some believe is that one group wants the illegals for cheap labor, and the other group want's them for votes. These two groups, (Political Parties), were being accused of this pandering by people who are fed up with our open boarder policies. Could these assumptions be true? Also, that guy who started that boarder militia in Arizona, from what I read, felt the same way too.
The reason people come to America is simple. Oppotunities. Some come for the job opportunities and to work their way up, mostly because life in their home country sucks. Others come here for the other opportunites, the kind that come in the form of welfare checks, food stamps and free education and healthcare. We would do better to cut off the latter and encourage the former.
You are correct, some people take advantage of the cheap labor, but then those same people would take the jobs TO the cheap labor if the cheap labor didn;t come up for them.

unfortunately it's time to round up ANY and ALL illegals, get them the f**k outta here and seal up the borders nice and tight.
if we have to become an isolationist nation in order to be free from those who wish to wipe us out and/or bleed us f**king dry, then so be it.
if you can't comply and conform then stay the f**k out.
All we have to do is dry up the seeping bleeding gaping wound that is our welfare system and only those willing to work will bother to come up (or down) or from where ever.

that will never happen! >:(

Jenny, you still seem to be riding the "Republican welfare myth."
Why don't you get a US budget and see what percentage of your taxes actually goes to welfare FOR THE POOR.
Then take an honest look at how much is welfare for the rich, corporate welfare, and money that ends up in the bank account of someone who bought Congressmen and presidents, like Howard Hughs, money that goes to the military-industrial complex, military, police; Donald Trump, to the Mafia through the war on drugs, then join the real world.

From the 1999 budget (dollars are in millions):
Food Stamps [alone]: $19,051
HHS: $359,700
HUD: $ 32,736
Social Security (for laughs): $419,790
Defense: $293,387
Looking at that budget-looks like the military (in 99) paled in comparison. Yes, I did add HHS in there because part of their budget is helping poor, or homeless people find health care.
LAL: You seem to think it is the job of America to feed and clothe and doctor up everyone that manages to step over the border then?
Geez, brandonl, what's up with you? You're sounding like a ditto-head lately. Feeling OK? :)

A ditto-head? oops-am I crossing the wrong political line again? :)
Actually-I'm being forced to be a yes man at work-and I guess it's carrying over ;)
j/k
but really-not even LAL, and his Frisby-esque tales, can dispute the facts.

Both forms of welfare need to go. Charity should be private as well. It is NOT government's responsibility to run a charity. (You all might read "Sockdoggler" on this site.)
As to becoming isolationist to the point of sealing the borders, it would be a huge mistake not to mention a logistical nightmare. We did this after WWI and all it got us was WWII. Then given the size of our borders, it would be damn near impossible to seal effectively, they are just too damn large. Not to mention many of those borders are in very rugged territory.
