A woman breached security at San Francisco Internaioanl Airport yestarday afternoon, causing the evacuation of the United terminal for almost 3 hours. SHe simply moved a table blocking a closed lane and ran to her plane. It took the TSA's nearly 30 minutes to realize what had happened. By the time they did, the woman had already boarded her plane and it had taken off.

Although she was arrested in Baltimore when her plane arrived, I find it boine chilling that all you really have to do to get past security is...well, run past. Had she been a terrorist, she would have succeeded in whatever her evil plans were.

You have to wonder what in the hell she was thinking. Unless you've been living under a rock you HAVE to know what is going on at airports these days. To pull something like that you're either completely nuts or looking for your 15 minutes and just asking for trouble.

I don't know. From what I could see in the picture, she was a late 20's/early 30's Asisan business woman. Running like she was late for her plane. Maybe she just thinks the rules don;t apply to her?

Jen: Maybe she just thinks the rules don;t apply to her?

LaL: She's a girl, for Christ's sake. All girls think rules don't apply to them. Just look at the way they drive.

I was standing in line at an airport once and a guy was obviously late for his flight and wanted to cut in front of me. I said "Sure. 20 bucks." He gladly forked it over. I gave it back to him. I just wanted to see how late he really was.

Believe me I deal with people like that, both male and female, at work all the time. The kind who get mad if they have to wait a few minutes for their "decaf, venti, soy, extra hot, no foam, sugar-free vanilla, latte." The rules don't apply to these people because they're special.

02-07-2003, 09:09 AM
I wish I could've been there to see the look on her face when she was arrested. I'm sure there was a whole lot of, "What do you mean?" and "What did I do wrong?" and "You can't do this to ME." Once again I have to wonder where the hell she's been, what, if anything, she was thinking and how she got to be in a position where she's a business woman flying somewhere if she's THAT stupid. I'm forever amazed at the sheer stupidity of successful people. How do they become successful in spite of their stupidity? How do they not fall down more? How do they manage to get themselves dressed and off to work in the morning? How do they manage to get anything useful accomplished, raise kids, obtain a mortgage, etc.? I can see someone making a dumb mistake once in a while but this broad has to be practically braindead to pull something like that in an airport post 9-11.

It has nothing to do with stupidity at all. Her attitude is that the rules don't apply to her.

Evidently what is going on at airports these days is nothing any terrorist needs to be concerned about.

Well I don't serve Folgers because the flavour of muddy water disgusts me. I prefer Turkish coffee and Cubano espresso shots straight no fru fru.

Like Wendy said, some of these idiots think they're so important that everyone hangs on their every action. So since Europeans drink lattes and cappucinos, these pretentious asses think they have to as well. Of course most of them are as wimpy about their coffee as they are about their alcohol so they have to disguise the taste of the coffee. So we add mocha, vanilla or other flavours to it. Some people are afraid of anything with dairy in it so they have to have their soy milk, which tastes like a foot to me. Still others will only drink organic milk, etc...

Excuuuse ME.....I happen to like a cappacino first thing in the morning and lattes during the rest of the day.........regular coffee just tastes like dirty water now.

Grind up some expresso beans and then pop a can of folgers and try to tell me there isn't a world of difference at the get go........no comparison.

The only thing I add is some whipped cream on the rare occasion I remember to buy some..........Though I did get my own machine, rather than cough up 10 bucks or more a day to Starbucks. (And I use Seattles Best because starbucks wouldn't give water to the firefighters in NYC on 9/11..... :P)

I love cappucinos and lattes, but I don't need anything to cover up the taste of the espresso. Of course I usually drink my espresso straight or with hot water like an Americano.

I used to love Folgers, but then I went to a local coffee shop with a friend. He got me hooked on Ethiopa Yerggachefe. Since then I've only been able to drink the more expensive coffee. I know a lot of people who don't think there is a difference, but if you compare them side by side there really is.

When I first moved to CA, I went out with my as yet unmarried ( therefore still sort of normal) brother and his friends for coffee. Since I had just spent the previous 4 and a half years in Pennsylvania, my idea of coffee...was you know...coffee. We went to Starbucks and I asked for a "regular" the girl looked at me like I was nuts. "A regular what" "well, you know, just a coffee, normal kind" "what blend" "I don't care, what ya got?" Then she listed them off one by one. I was terrified to order coffee for quite a long time. Once I got a job in the big city though, I discovered that I liked lattes.

I don't really like Starbucks that much; they help me pay the bills. I used to go to this independent shop that was local. They had great coffee, roasted in house. Unfortunately the owner's wife got transferred so he sold out.
