Genes Linked With Male Sexual Orientation Found

The genes a man gets from his mother and father may play an important role in determining whether he is gay or not, according to a new study likely to reignite the “gay gene” debate.
Researchers say it’s the first time the entire human genetic makeup (search) has been scanned in search of possible genetic determinants of male sexual orientation. The results suggest that several genetic regions may influence homosexuality.
“It builds on previous studies that have consistently found evidence of genetic influence on sexual orientation, but our study is the first to look at exactly where those genes are located,” says researcher Brian Mustanski, PhD, a psychologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Those previous studies looked only at the genes located on the X chromosome (search). Genes on this chromosome are only passed to a son from his mother. But this study examined genetic information on all chromosomes, including genes from the father.
The findings show that identical stretches of DNA on three chromosomes were shared by about 60 percent of gay brothers in the study compared to the about 50 percent normally expected by chance.

For homosexual researchers like Dean Hamer & Company, finding the homosexual gene is a matter of faith, like finding the homosexual Jesus is a faith issue with the ultra-Liberal homosexual bishop Gene Robinson and his party of feminist women priests.
First they formulate hypotheses or prediction of how the experiment or study will turn out then blather endlessly about the percentage of certainty of the expected findings. Then in the case of Hamer & Co., they apply for the grant, or in Robinson's case, the blessing of the "church" and the blessing of the church's financial committee. Then they perform experiments, gather data or in the case of Robinson, "biblical proofs" then alter the data to fit the hypothesis. Sometimes a deductive method is used to prove a hypothesis in which case it's the hypothesis that is altered and then backdated to match the evidence.
In every case there is wild acclaim by the press and leading journals until the news that it did not pass the peer review stage is leaked. Then there is a deafening silence from the researchers and the press leaving everyone to believe that what is not proven is in fact still true.
It takes years of study to produce pseudo-science. Only when one has invested the time in musty classrooms obtaining a dim, incoherent knowledge of science can this be successfully pulled off.
Expect many more fantastically misleading headlines trumpeting this scientific break through such as the one you found on Fox News. Even if it's not actually proven, can never be proven, it's imperative that people understand that homosexuals are the way they are and do the things they do because "God made them that way".

You got that right. The goal is to advance a social and political agenda, not accurate scientific knowledge. They've gotten a lot of mileage out of the ignorant masses in the past by using this strategy.
"The genes a man gets from his mother and father may play an important role in determining whether he is gay or not, according to a new study likely to reignite the “gay gene” debate."
Neither "debate" nor "consensus" is "science". ;)
"The results suggest that several genetic regions may influence homosexuality."
Oh yeah...real conclusive..but that's gay science for you ::) I wonder why they couldn't wait until they had something solid? :cwm13: I guess we'll find out soon enough.

The ignorant masses comes in all stripes and sizes and beliefs.
There isn't a gene that MAKES one gay just like there isn't a gene that MAKES one a believer in God (and if there is ever a shred of proof that religious belief is genetic you can bet that all believers would preach the glories of the gene). ;)

Can't imagine where you get that idea - unless you're talking about the Christian Identity movement and similar factions, which are considered lunatic fringe groups by mainstream Christians.

She doesn't believe that, it was just a good opportunity to bash the Christians. What we should be looking for is the "stupid gene" in women. You find that and 99% of the world's problems will be solved. Then we could work on finding the "fat and ugly" gene. Just think of it. A world without stupid fat and ugly women. I think heaven will be like that.

NOW you're in trouble. >:(
I was going to say, give gays a pill, that'll solve the problem. But now I'm gonna say that you need a pill ... or two or ...... a lot.
IMAGINE a world where men didn't think they were God's gift.
Men: 99% muscle a 1% fat between the ears. ;D
Hey ladies? Ever notice that? Why is it that men consistently think their own attractiveness quotient is about 20 times higher than it really is?

Besides an aspirin there's only one pill I've taken in the past several years and then it was just a half a pill. Y'all seemed to like that one quite a bit.
IMAGINE a world where men didn't think they were God's gift.
We all know it's the other way around Bibbers; and we're still trying to figure out how we pissed Him off.
Men: 99% muscle a 1% fat between the ears. ;D
Buns of steel or brains of steel? It's a choice you have to make most of the time. I always go for the buns myself.

That would be the Kerry voting metrosexuals like Pepsi. Real men have an innate physical attractiveness to the opposite sex no matter what they actually look like. Just like I do.

.............There isn't a gene that MAKES one gay just like there isn't a gene that MAKES one a believer in God.........................
But neither are humans born a completely blank slate either. We are all a bundle of fairly hardwired predispositions from a combo of our genes and the hormones which bathed us during our time in utero. Most people do in fact have a predisposition to follow Leaders and revere received Authority. A devout true beleiving Christian and a true believer Communist have far more in common than either would care to admit.
