whoops.
Who in the hell thought this was a good idea? Did they let fairnessman head up their marketing department or something?
Hell only listing ten reasons is a compliment to the niggers:
"...The T-shirt, printed with a list of ''10 Reasons Why a Beer is Better than a Black Man'' and illustrated with caricatures of a black couple..."

We as a society have become way too reactive to tasteless and often offensive material. Unless these shirts were advocating physical harm to someone, the logical reaction would be to simply not do business with the idiots offering the shirts.
Let's be realistic. there are a lot of stupid people out there, but if I saw a shirt that listed "10 good reasons why beer is better than blonde haired, blue eyed white men, I would probably read the shirt, put it down and take my business elsewhere.
Is this really worthy of making news on a national level? I suppose the next step is to criminalize something like that. Someone was offended... So what? I doubt that exposure to some ridiculous shirt is going to be a life altering experience for anyone.
Have we become so afraid of being viewed as anything other than whatever the current concept of politically correct is, that the concept of free expression is no longer important?
Stupid shirt.
Stupid people.
No big deal.
The University fired them. They are no longer doing business with them. Stupid people, who don't moderate their sub-contractors, lost money. No big deal. <<shrug>>

Was it necessary to fire them? Would it have sufficed to tell them to put the shirts away and conduct their business in a more appropriate manner, then fire them if they failed to comply?
That is the point. The university reacted the way they did, not because of the shirts, but because they were afraid of a political backlash. They were scared. It wasn't an act of nobility, it was fear.
It doesn't speak well of our society.
If the decision were up to ME, I would fire them too. Not out of fear, but out of incredulous wonder that I had such offensive morons on my payroll.

Perhaps that decision should have been left up to BankOne. I am sure the university is full of morons.
This is not an isolated incident. Granted, these fools were dumber than most, but taking extreme action against somene who says or does or displays something that may cause offense to someone else is becoming the norm. We are a nation walking on eggshells.
I suppose observer. I'll jump on your bandwagon when somone sues. Which is as likely as it is not to happen.

I guess what bothers me Jeny, is that not offending anyone has become more important than freedom of expression.
We have gone from "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." To "If you say something I don't like, I am going to make sure the powers-that-be shut you up."
Imagine, if you will, everything you say, write, or read having to be approved by Tony. We're on that road.
The shirt was stupid, offensive and tasteless, but so was the response by the university. If I find something offensive or in bad taste I exercise my right to ignore it. I don't expect some official to come along and make it go away for me, but I'm an adult. I don't expect my mummy and daddy to protect me from myself anymore than I expect big daddy gubment to do it for me.

it seems too many people LOOK for reasons to be offended anymore.
i'm offended by negroes and their stupid rap videos and all the rap/hip-hop culture that seems to permeate every frikkin' commericial on tv now.
do i really need some annoying rappin' niggies telling me what beer to drink or what shoe to wear?? how bout you go scrub your black ass and i'll make my own decisions about what to drink, eat, wear, drive, etc. WITHOUT having my intelligence insulted.
BUT with that being said, no matter if i am annoyed, offended, or just plain pissed off i don't see any reason to call in the "thought police" or a lawyer because of it.

People have no sense of humor. Everyone wants to be offended. ::)
I think that shirts like that are funny even if they are aimed at me. The only reason that I see to get offended is if you think that what they are saying is true and are ashamed of who or what you are. :P

One has to have a fairly healthy ego to be non-plussed when humor is directed in his direction.....
I just wish people would LIGHTEN UP!
I saw a shirt that said "10 Reasons Beer is Better Than Women" I didn't go out of my way to get the shirt banned, and I'm a woman. I did feel sorry for the slob wearing it though, not the way to get sex guys.
