Has anyone ever used one of those maid services like Molly Maid? How much does it cost? Do they do good work?

I can't afford to have regular help, but I would like to find a service I could use from time to time.

I always thought this would be a good business for me to run. I *like* doing housework and I'm good at it.

But, in answer to your question, I have no idea how much it costs. If I lived near you, I would come clean your house for you, for free. ;)

Heh. Let's hope they charge less than a plane ticket, or you'll be hearing from me. :D

They will steal you blind. Do your own house work, lazy.

I used to do cleaning for a living. I charged by the hour for light housekeeping ($12 per hour/1999) and extra for things like cleaning ovens, or going into a house that was a pig stye. <where you had to wipe your feet when you left> People really do let their homes get this bad before calling someone to clean it for them. I also charged extra for washing walls, outside windows, scrubbing and waxing floors, carpet cleaning. So Suth you might want to check and see if they charge extra for anything. Here in Idaho I know several of my friends have housekeepers come in and they pay them $15 an hour.

Thanks. That at least gives me an idea of what to expect.

I think those maid companies have a regular routine that they follow. I'd probably be better of with an individual I could have do whatever I happened to need at the time.

We have 5-7 mexican women come in every other week. They are good, and honest. I also give them more than they can steal. and they bring me green chili and tomalies.

We could not do without them.

Suth, those cleaning services around here usually get $35.00 per hr. per girl. However, I think the rates could be cheaper if it is done on a regular basis.

I have a small housecleaning business with a few select customers. I basically cut the competitor's prices in half at $20.00 an hr. But, there is NO way I'd ever clean anyone's else's house for free. :)

Not even a friend in need? :)

I like housecleaning. But, probably if I made a business out of it, it would become just work and I wouldn't enjoy it as much.

Nope. It took me twice to learn my lesson on that one. Once, my friend needed some housework done to be able to rent out one of her places and I volunteered to help. The renters had left that place so disgusting. You just don't want to know. It took us about 12 hours working together. :o

Then, years later, I offered to help a friend clean her grandmother's house. It took us six hours of MY day off. That woman had not done any actual cleaning except surface cleaning in YEARS! YUCK! So, I have learned my lesson for sure.

That is true. I find that I like doing my own housecleaning a lot less than I used to. I have worked for the same customers for years now but I also cook, and run errands for some of them as well. So, it is less repetitious but still hard work most of the time.
