I run Win2K pro on a server and have been considering converting to a Linux based OS, but I'd like to know who is currently using a Linux based OS and what are some of the better ones to use.

I have a home network with two other PC's and mine is the server with a cable modem attached.

I heard that it was more stable and was more efficient in using resources, more so that win2k or xp.

I use officexp pro, do some web design, but a lot of spreadsheet work. Others do promarily wordprocessing applications.

I use win2k pro on my unit, another has xp pro, and a 3rd has win98se.

Maybe I'm wasting my time trying to change to a linux based system, but maybe not.

Well, you'll have to switch to some other spreadsheet program under Linux, as MS products aren't avaialable (reliably) for Linux.

In some cases it is more reliable and manages resources better-but it all depends on what you run, what you install, etc.

What you should do is: if you have another PC, install Linux on it first, and see if you like it. You don't want to make the change, and realize you don't like it.
