So, you're a gardener. When is the earliest you can plant in Canada and what grows best for you? Are you urban or rural? If urban, where do you grow your garden?

I'm rural. I have a fairly large garden that I didn't plant last spring due to moving around . :(
Earliest we can plant depends on the year.. but cool weaher crops such as lettuce and peas and potatoes can sometimes be gotten in as early as the first week in May.
Length of maturity is always a factor.. tomatoes and corn really cannot be more than 85 or 90 days.

What a difference latitude makes. As a kid, I remember planting potatoes in late February. You could even put in fall crops, if you wished. Corn would grow taller than my head, and was the hottest place on Earth when picked in July or August.

South central US. Hot. Humid. Some live or die depending on the A/C. Great for raising gardens. You can actually watch squash vines grow.

Know what I love seeing? If we have had a drought, and we get a big rain.. the field corn grows about 6 inches overnight.

Last season I had a great garden, but this year I'll just plant a few plants, maybe tomato and some summer squash. We'll be moving in very early June, so it would be kind of a waste of time. I just hope I can have a decent veggie garden in the desert. ;D
