90% of denominationalism is based on the 1% of Christianity for which Divine Revelation has been most vague (and that PROBABLY deliberately so) and in areas that are least important to the day to day life of a Christian (the obsession some have with the End Times for example).

The linik talks of scores and hundreds of denominational and ideological spinters but does not give any figures. If you were to break them down by number, likely about 80% of the adherants would be in about 30 or so of the main segments of Christianity. The other couple of hundred or so of splinter groups would likely make up about 20%.
Disclaimer: This is my own guesstimate.
Unlike Islam, Christians are not strapped to a chair and spoonfed what they must eat, so to speak. With fundamentalistic Christianity comes freedom and freedom results in diversity. It becomes the responsibility of every free person to do proper homework to sort it all out and hope to end up with truth.
I do not know of any denomination that I totally agree with 100%. I use the Bible as my foundational basis and go from there. I end up with agreeing with some in this group and some in that group, but seed out the church closest to what I believe. In my church where I go, there's some things I do not agee with but I come away each week with the blessing of having worshiped, learned and taught with fellow believers whom I love. They learn from me and I learn from them. We get along fine with our differences. Over the years I have been able to convince some of my thinking on issues as well as being convinced by others to the point that I have changed my thinking. This is how truth works.
Who else besides me would love to have this guy's job? I've always been interested in religion and culture.

I have a book
HANDBOOK OF DENOMINATIONS
In The United States, 11th Edition
(Abingdon Press, 2001).
I've had three or four older editions
(usually gave them away to interested
parties).
It is a good read.
