View Full Version : Tile, tile, tile everywhere.
So we picked all the flooring for the new house on Saturday. We got 17 inch tile pretty much everywhere downstairs exept the guest bedroom and the formal living room. Up the stairs and upstairs, we got carpet. Upgraded the pad and carpet, of course. We picked cherry cabinets. We wanted granite slab counters, but they didn't offer it. ??? So, we just got laminate and we'll get granite after, we talked about a 10th anniversary present to ourselves. ;) Anyway, all coming into place. ;D ;D Can't wait until JUNE!! ;D

Cherry picking again?
We did oak floors with maple cabinets and blue pearl granite. I love the blue pearl granite. I'll try to post some pictures if I can cut it down a little.

Nice, can't see the counter tops though. We're getting Stainless steel appliances too. :)
I went in with the idea that I wanted wood floors. But, it seems that wood floors do not fair well in the Arizona weather ??? I didn't quite follow the reasoning. But, the tile was almost half the price anyway so in the end I'm glad we went with it. It virtually indestructable and easy to care for. :)

The other side is a large eat in area, with an octagon where we put a large, rough hewn oak table.
We've had a few parties and it's great having a large kitchen like that. Quite a change in lifestyle.

Probably a good choice. The oak floor is already showing wear from the kids, mostly. But that's the way it is. Another 6 years or so we can refinish it.
I'll try to post a good picture of the granite. A picture isn't going to do it justice though. When the sun hits it just right in the morning is when it shows best.

Close up, but still resolution may not be good enough:
This is the floor plan for the new house. This is from a different development because, no offense, I don;t want ya'll to know exactly where we'll be living. ;)

With granite the major cost, believe it or not, is in the finishing and not in the stone.
We went with a half bull nose because the full bull nose blew the budget.

Looks spectacular, Jeny.

I spent a lot of time at Expo looking at granite slab so I know which one it is. I like it. There seem to be four basic granite colr groups: Black, gray, white and tan. We want one from the tan group. But I pretty much like them all. :)

I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks. :) We pretty much got all the options. We got all three covered patios in the back, to keep the Arizona sun out of the house. We got the kitchen island and we're changing the den into the bedroom with full bath for the guestroom. Upstairs, we are changinf the game room into the bedroom for the office and we're getting the whirlpool tub option in the master bath. This is a "semi" dream house. We'll stay here until the kids go to college, then we'll move into the middle of the country somewhere and design our own house far, far from civilization. :)

I have blue pearl all over the house as well as at the business. Its an upgrade color but sooooo worth it.
It's so cool, isn't it?
The only thing I like better are some of the exotics, but they cost an arm and a leg.
